The photo shows one of the veggie gardens from a couple years ago on The Farm.  We now have two large new gardens being prepped for the 2024 growing season at The Farm.  In addition, multiple new raised growing beds are built, filled with soil and compost, and are ready for growing.  And we better not forget the brand new, gigantic greenhouse, ready for its first season of growth.

The two large garden areas will provide enough bounty for an entire neighborhood.

Either one of them would fit nicely in the front yard of most Olympia homes . . . or the backyard, if you prefer.  The raised garden beds would easily fit on the property of most homes.

Olympia is fairly unique in that it allows for vegetable gardens in the front yards of homes . . . vegetable gardens instead of lawns which, last we checked, do not provide any food at all for anyone.

What’s our point?  We certainly are not saying that all homeowners should have a 15’x30’ vegetable garden in the front yard of their home; we are simply pointing out the potential productivity and, on an education level, what a magical lesson it would be for children to be involved with their own garden, at home, from start to finish.

In the meantime, as spring marches on, we at Sequoia’s will do our best to make little gardeners out of the children who attend our school.
