Memories of Preschool

Confession time: I remember practically nothing about my preschool. I don’t remember any of the other kids in that early learning experience, certainly nothing about the curriculum or how we spent our days.

But I remember Miss Charles, the lead teacher, Oddly, I still, all these years later, remember what she looked like, but more importantly I remember how nice she was to me, how patient she was, and how understanding she was with the painfully shy child who was me.

I may not remember the particulars of any of the days, but I remember feeling safe and accepted, and to a shy five-year-old, that was so very important.

We never know the impact we are going to have on anyone and, with little children, the impact we have seems to be magnified ten-fold.

What we do at Sequoia’s Treehouse is vitally important, not only for the current school year, but beyond. The foundation we lay, for our students, is a foundation which will either be strong enough to support their entire educational history, or sub-standard and not strong enough to support anything of importance.

We keep that in mind daily, with each student.

It may just be preschool to others, but to us at Sequoia’s Treehouse, it is a “make or break” year for each of our students.
