The calendar still says summer, but it is fairly obvious that autumn is right around the corner.

Looking for activities you can do as a family, activities which will engage small children and make autumn more interesting?  Gaze upon these fifteen suggestions:

  1. Make a “fall bucket list.”
  2. Plan a fall foliage road trip.
  3. Paint acorns.
  4. Visit an apple orchard.
  5. Make an apple dessert recipe like apple pie or apple crisp.
  6. Make apple cider.
  7. Do apple tasting at home to discover what type of apples everyone likes best.
  8. Make caramel apples.
  9. Roast pumpkin seeds.
  10. Create an outdoor fire and roast s’mores.
  11. Try a new soup recipe the whole family will love.
  12. Make toilet paper roll scarecrows.
  13. Pick out a new book to read as a family.
  14. Make a fall sensory jar with fall leaves, sticks, acorns and glitter. Collect items in your area and put them in a mason jar. Add water if you wish and notice each object as your child shakes the jar and watches everything in the jar settle.
  15. Make handprint leaves by tracing hands on paper, coloring them and cutting them out.
