“It is in our nature to explore, to reach out into the unknown. The only true failure would be not to explore at all.”

– Ernest Shackleton

The famous explorer/adventurer, John Muir, known as the “Father of National Parks, discovered his love of exploration rather late in life.  After almost being permanently blinded in a machine-shop accident in 1867, Muir walked from Kentucky to Florida, a stroll of one-thousand miles. His goal was to simply walk out of civilization and explore places not yet seen.  Eventually, he ended up in the Sierra Mountains, where his love of nature resulted in a greater appreciation, by Americans, of the wild places.

“The power of imagination makes us infinite.” John Muir

May our children never lose their imagination. May they always find comfort in Nature, and may we, the adults, never lose sight of the importance of seeing things through a child’s eyes.

Nature-based learning is vitally important. That is what we believe at Sequoia’s Treehouse, and that is what we will always believe.
