“Children more than ever need opportunities to be in their bodies in the world . . . jumping rope, bicycling, stream hopping and fort building. It’s this engagement between limbs of the body and bone of the earth where true balance and centeredness emerge.”  David Sobel

But it’s raining!! A common refrain among kids and, truth be told, parents alike.  But it’s all about our frame of mind, isn’t it?  A child responds to cues just like all humans do.  If the rain is seen as magical, the child will see magic, and exploration will follow.  And in that exploration, all manner of learning will occur.

We are all products of traditional education.  For sure, there are benefits to that style, and not for one second do we believe otherwise.  We are simply saying that there are also benefits to nature-based education and, slowly, the educational community and political leaders are coming to that realization.  We do not believe nature-based education is an outlier in the world of learning; we believe it is a pioneer and a vision of things to come.  We must find ways to stimulate the minds of children, for through that stimulation, long-lasting learning will occur.
