So, have you heard, we may be getting snow this week?  How exciting for the kids.  How exciting for us adults who think we are kids.

Just a thought, and without a doubt you already know this, but kids can even learn things, and have fun educationally, in the snow.

Take this opportunity to have a learning experience with your child.  Ask them what makes snow? What makes rain? Why is snow different than rain?  Catch snowflakes on your tongue, a time-honored tradition.  Draw snowflakes and color them.

Make a snow volcano!!!

Here’s how.  You are all familiar with making a volcano out of vinegar and baking soda, right.  Okay, let’s take it a step further.  Have your child make a mountain of snow.  Scoop out a space at the top of that mountain, big enough to hold a cup/container.

Now, fill the cup/container with a cup of vinegar and a cup-and-a-half of warm water.  Add some red food coloring to simulate the color of lava.

Next, put a tablespoon of liquid dishwashing soap in the mixture, then stand back and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda.

The effect is pretty cool!  And you might want to do it somewhere which will require very easy cleanup.

Have a fantastic time in the snow!
